Our Core Values:
At Joppatowne we expect our students to uphold 3 core values....
To be safe, respectful & responsible.
Throughout the year we emphasize what it means to be safe, respectful and responsible inside and outside the classroom.
What Happens When We Uphold Our Values:
If students struggle to uphold the 3 JOES values (safe, respectful, and responsible) they will be given a warning.
If they continue to not uphold the values they will be given an appropriate and aligned consequence. This could be as simple as asking the student to move their seat in the classroom.
If the behavior continues, the student will complete a think sheet and receive a more severe consequence. This could range from a lunch detention to after school detention, etc.
If the student continues struggling, additional staff will be asked to intervene. That could include special educators, behavior specialists, counselors or psychologists.
In the event the behavior continues or the behavior is so severe (i.e: a physical attack, sexual harassment, etc.) students will receive an office referal and administration will intervene.
Individual Rewards
Everyday students earn points for their house. The five students who earned the most points for their house are named the "Fin-Tastic 5" The Fin-Tastic 5 is calculated monthly, and the students who receive this honor are able to pick from a variety of prizes on our Fin-Tastic 5 prize board.
Class Rewards
Every month the total amount of house points our homeroom earned is calculated. Depending on the amount of points earned we can win a variety of rewards. Above is a list of example rewards that classes are capable of earning.
House Rewards
Every month the total amount of points each house earns is calculated. The house with the most points at the end of the month is celebrated with a House Party that occurs at the end of the school day. Additionally, House winners are honored at our monthly assembly and have the opportunity to participate in other fun activities throughout the month!
